After several happy years, the Boney M LP's were shelved and I went to Nottingham University to study History of Art and Architecture. There I learnt many things but if I'm honest art history hasn't proved one of the more useful. My first job at a pharmaceutical PR company opened my eyes and brought me bang up to date with the advancements in maggot therapy and limb amputation. A bout of queasiness propelled me into my next role as a media officer for the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. A nice wholesome job with lashings of fresh air in the Bedfordshire countryside. In 2000, I landed a job as a writer for a finance magazine in Hong Kong where the air was considerably less fresh. In between exploring the merits of various Asian airports I wrote features, company profiles, country reports, and mini-sites. I like to travel (who doesn't?) and I schedule in an escape to the coast at least once a month with my young family. There, I am free to indulge my fondness for children's books and marmite toasties. I write because I enjoy it. I get a kick out of finding out what other people are up to and turning that information into digestible blurb for everyday folk. Best of all, the creative process involves vast quantities of hot tea and family sized packets of biscuits; what could be better?
